How we test and review
This page explains how the calculators and comparisons on CalcAndCompare are made, so you can judge how far to rely on them.
Calculators
- Standard formulas. Each calculator uses the formula that is standard for its metric, written out on the page.
- One source of truth. The interactive tool and the worked example run on the same code, so the example always matches what the tool would show.
- Honest defaults. Where a result depends on a rate that platforms do not publish, such as YouTube RPM or TikTok Creator Rewards payouts, the default is labelled as a starting range and you are told where to find your own figure.
- No data collected. Calculations run in your browser; we do not store the numbers you enter.
Software comparisons and reviews
- Pricing from the source. Plans and prices come from each provider's official pricing page and show the date they were checked.
- Hands-on where possible. Where a free plan or trial is available, we use it to check features and limits, and we say when a detail comes from the provider's documentation instead.
- Who it suits, not just a winner. Every comparison explains which tool fits which situation, including when the cheaper or free option is the better choice.
- Commissions do not decide verdicts. We may earn from some of the tools we cover. We still recommend tools that do not pay us when they are the better fit.
Updates
Pages show the date they were last updated. Pricing pages are rechecked regularly and whenever a provider announces a change.
